Tegan believes that access to sport and recreation is important for everyone.
One of her goals is to develop Blind Tennis in her local community and seek opportunities to do the same in neighbouring towns such as Albury/Wodonga.
Tegan plays tennis with her family and really enjoys taking photographs. She discovered that by using certain technology and enlarging images, she is able to see the photos.
After becoming vision impaired, Tegan experienced being excluded from many activities. This motivated her to help create and provide options for people, especially those in rural communities, to have access to inclusive sport and recreation.
Tegan says "Full access enables everyone an opportunity to enjoy life. Wangaratta is a small community with over a thousand people with a disability, so it is important that we all have access to things we like."
Tegan previously worked as a Rural Access Officer for the Rural City of Wangaratta Council. Since 2023 when she joined BSRV as an Assistant Coordinator to support our programs in regional Victoria, her passion for equality and accessibilty has grown. Tegan is a valued team member and is following her dream of creating inclusive communities.
Since losing her sight and becoming vision impaired Tegan has been inspired by the Walt Disney quote, 'If you can dream it, you can do it.'
