From chairs made out of recycled chewing gum packets, crockery made of crochet, a stunning wardrobe made of melted plastic bottle tops, and an armoire tiered like a wedding cake with inscribed tiles donning powerful messages from women living with Endometriosis, there was nothing usual about Melbourne Fringe Festival's Furniture Design Exhibition at the Linden New Art Gallery in St Kilda.
Thanks to Artistic Director/CEO of Vitae Veritas, Nilgun Guven, a group of Blind Sports & Recreation Victoria participants benefited from experiencing an immersive and tactile tour of this year's Fringe furniture designs, as well as meeting three inspiring artists who had submitted tapestries, sculptures and chairs.
New participant, Nisha, said "It really is hard for me to put into words, but I have never experienced this sort of inclusion. I actually had never liked art galleries because I could never see the art pieces and always felt excluded from the art. That was just the best experience!"
